New further training course in “Inclusive Social Development”
in Bucharest, October 2025
The two colleagues Roxana and John Bryde have been working in Romania for many years with the impulse of anthroposophical curative education and social therapy.
Since the breakdown – the revolution – of the totalitarian political system, they have begun collaborating with various German and Swiss colleagues, enabling Waldorf schools, curative education initiatives, and social therapy communities to be established in many places, including Bucharest, Simeria, and Pantelimon, to name just the largest.
The call for a new educational impetus was clearly heard in Bucharest. And so, with the support of Vlad Popa, the Country Representative of the Anthroposophical Society in Romania, and our Section with its Training Circle, Roxana and John initiated a new concept for a three-year further training course in “Inclusive Social Development” – oriented towards the intention of the Section.
The idea is that a basic understanding of anthroposophy is developed in the first year, followed by two years of in-depth study of the profession of curative education and social work with adults with assistance needs.
The training began with an initial module on Michaelmas weekend at the Rudolf Steiner House in Bucharest with around 25 participants. These people are colleagues from the “Corabia” school in Bucharest and women who work as therapists, educators, and psychologists.
Sonja Zausch from the Section’s leadership team was invited to the first module and began on Friday evening with a lecture on the history of the Section and current professional challenges. In the seminar on attitudinal issues in everyday social work over the following two days, a contemporary understanding of the field of work was developed through a balanced alternation between artistic activities, self-reflection, and the related anthroposophical foundations – i.e., the connection to Rudolf Steiner’s methods.
Participants greatly appreciated this opportunity to gain insight into worldly experiences and social challenges in connection with anthroposophy, and found it relevant to their personal questions.
The Section’s leadership team and other colleagues are involved in the following modules, and we hope that the diversity that will emerge over the three years will inspire many people with the trial approach to working, combined with spiritual training.
